Vineyards are primarily located in the Çal-Denizli region, at altitudes ranging from 800 to 950 meters. These are small plots owned by dedicated growers from surrounding villages who have carried on their viticultural heritage for generations. The vineyards consist of 35- to 80-year-old vines of Sultaniye, Çal Karası, and Boğazkere, cultivated as dry-farmed bush vines — a traditional method well-suited to the region’s harsh continental climate. The soils are predominantly clay and limestone, lending structure and character to the wines.

HERITAGE VINES INITIATIVE

In addition to this core region, we have expanded our work to include lesser-known indigenous varieties from different parts of Turkey, as part of the Heritage Vines of Turkey initiative. This ongoing project focuses on recovering and showcasing old-vine grapes that are at risk of being forgotten.

As part of this effort, we source Patkara and Gök grapes from the high-altitude vineyards of Mut, Mersin (1150 meters), both from vines over 60 years old and first processed in 2023. Similarly, in 2022, we began working with Karasakız from Bayramiç, Çanakkale — a region with a distinctive microclimate in the northern Aegean — where the vines also exceed 60–65 years in age. Early results from these vineyards have been both surprising and promising, reaffirming the potential of these forgotten varieties.

Our aim is to support small-scale growers — not only to sustain their livelihoods but also to preserve the deep-rooted knowledge and traditional practices they embody. This ensures that rare, local grape varieties are protected and passed on to future generations.
